Experiences

Hand-picked things to do around Blakeney & the North Norfolk coast.

Beans Boat Trips — Blakeney Point seals
Boat trips & wildlife · About 5 min drive to Morston Quay

A Blakeney institution: the Bean family have run ferries out to the Blakeney Point grey-seal colony for generations. Sail from Morston Quay to see seals hauled out on the sand and seabirds along the spit — check tide times, as departures follow the tide.

Bishop's Boats Seal Trips
Boat trips & wildlife · Departs Blakeney Quay

Family-run seal trips to Blakeney Point, sailing from Blakeney Quay itself (and Morston) depending on the tide. A lovely hour or so out on the water past the saltmarsh to England's largest grey-seal colony. Book ahead in season.

Temple's Seal Trips
Boat trips & wildlife · About 5 min drive to Morston Quay

Long-established seal-trip operator running daily ferries from Morston Quay out to Blakeney Point. Knowledgeable local skippers and a great-value way to see the seals and nesting seabirds up close.

The White Horse, Blakeney
Food & drink · In the village

A cosy former coaching inn just up from the quay, pouring Adnams ales and serving local seafood and seasonal Norfolk dishes. A favourite spot for lunch after a walk on the marshes.

The Kings Arms, Blakeney
Food & drink · In the village

A welcoming, dog-friendly free house near the harbour, built from three old fishermen's cottages. Hearty pub food, well-kept ales and a sunny garden — a Blakeney classic.

The Anchor Inn, Morston
Food & drink · About 5 min drive to Morston

A relaxed coastal free house in neighbouring Morston, well known for proper fish & chips and just-landed local crab. Handy before or after a seal trip from Morston Quay.

The George & Dragon, Cley
Food & drink · About 5 min drive to Cley

A handsome inn overlooking the Cley marshes — a popular birdwatchers' haunt with a good kitchen and a terrace made for big Norfolk skies. A short hop along the coast road.

Wiveton Hall Café & pick-your-own
Food & drink · About 5 min drive

A quirky, much-loved café in a Jacobean hall just inland, with garden tables, home baking and pick-your-own fruit in summer. Lovely for a leisurely lunch off the coast road.

Cley Smokehouse
Local shops & markets · About 5 min drive to Cley

A family smokehouse on Cley high street, curing kippers, smoked salmon, prawns and Cromer crab the traditional way for over 30 years. Perfect for stocking the cottage fridge with proper local produce.

Picnic Fayre Delicatessen, Cley
Local shops & markets · About 5 min drive to Cley

An award-winning deli in the old forge at Cley — fresh-baked bread, cheese, charcuterie, wine and local groceries. Exactly where to build a marsh-side picnic.

Bakers & Larners of Holt
Local shops & markets · About 10 min drive to Holt

A wonderful old-fashioned department store and food hall in Georgian Holt — a grand deli counter, wines, homeware and more. A lovely rainy-day potter a short drive inland.

Folks Coffee
Food & drink · 2 mins from any cottage!

Great coffee, great people. Oh and good cake!

Hi — you can take the girl out of Norfolk, but you can't take Norfolk out of the girl. I love helping guests discover this beautiful stretch of coast.

Privacy Policy

How Cottage Holidays Blakeney looks after your personal information.

What we collect

When you make an enquiry or create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, full UK home address, and your stay details (dates and party size). If you choose to save a passkey, we store the technical credential your device provides — never your fingerprint or face. Card payments, and any refundable security deposit, are processed securely by Square; we never see or store your card number.

Why we collect it & our lawful basis

We use your details to respond to your enquiry, manage your booking, contact you about your stay, and keep records required for our business and tax purposes. Our lawful bases are performance of a contract (your booking) and our legitimate interests in running the business and preventing fraud. Your home address is collected as a standard requirement for holiday-let bookings (guest identification and our terms).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. It is handled by our website host, our email provider, and our payment processor (Square — for card payments, including the refundable damages deposit) so we can store your booking, send confirmations and take payment. If you booked through a platform such as Airbnb or Vrbo, that booking is governed by their own privacy policies. We only disclose information where legally required.

How long we keep it

We keep booking records for as long as needed to run the business and meet UK tax and legal obligations (generally up to 6 years). You can delete your account at any time from your account page. When you do, we erase your login, contact details, messages, reviews and mailing-list entry; the booking and payment records we’re legally required to keep are anonymised — your dates and amounts remain, but your name and contact details are removed.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or request its deletion. From your account page you can update your contact details and address, download a copy of all the data we hold about you, and delete your account (deletion works as described above). For anything else, please get in touch using the contact details on the site.

Contact

If you have any questions about your data, please contact us via the “Call to Discuss” number shown on the booking page. This notice is provided for transparency and may be updated from time to time.
